valid point, it could be that everyone would be more sad and passive with less lust pumping through their veins, but then again in this world you wouldn't really know what you were missing in a way, just your internal desire for that particular pleasure would be less, i feel that humans would just gravitate to other pleasures for fulfillment. Because after all that is kind of we all do best is seek pleasure, I don't think in the absence of that particular pleasure we would be empty handed in finding other ways to fulfill it.
it takes some metacognition i suppose, because it's hard to separate our understanding of how we feel now with how we would feel in this hypothetical scenario where we would be unaware of how we feel now.
after all in a way right now you don't wish you had "100 points" more sex drive, you don't sit around sad that you cant experience this un imaginable higher level of sex drive, or maybe you do but it's only imagination at that point because you cant actually experience it or really even accurately imagine the reality of it, the point is you don't waste your life thinking about it.
in a way desire just kind of comes from within, its quite mysterious in a way, you dont control it and you don't miss potential desires that "could" be their. We are somewhat unable to forcefully create a new true desire or feel absent of a non existing desire within. maybe, right? feel like it's turning into a free will/no free will discussion now lol.
I like hearing your thoughts though, you make a lot of good points.. keep sharing.
That is my main argument, it sounds good in theory, but we do not know what it would really be like. I also am of the belief that sexual desire plays a role in motivating many people to strive for sucess to appeal to the opposite sex. Sex is a way of expressing yourself that is unparalleled, and a society with less desire for it would have more depression and suicide in my reckoning.
Would the world be better if everyone had lower sex drives?
