  • It isn't the person that you hate. Mostly, it is the stink. I grew up with a smoker, and every year that I am away from it, I hate the addiction more. You do realize that less than 20% of people in the U.S. smoke, and that 70% of smokers regret the day they started. My father quit when they cut his nose off--yes, the whole nose. For the next three years every time he spent more than five minutes with his kids he apologized for his smoking. He started smoking at age 6 and was 64 when he quit. You have been rejected out of hand for a long time and I think you know it: you do realize that whoever rejected you did not think you were worth having around solely on your addiction.

    • I'm from the UK, maybe it's different here - a lot more people smoke. I guess I do tend to date smokers, but then I'm a raver so most guys who are into the same music etc as I am smoke anyway. I'm not gonna try and say it's good for you because obviously it isn't, or that it smells good because obviously it doesn't, but I do think it's shallow to reject someone simply because of that. Everyone has their faults - I quit smoking for a year, and I dated guys who smoked during that time. It didn't bother me.
