Until they sit you down, pull up your activity log and see "Gmail" under your number, just tell them, "I do not recall ever using Gmail on my work device months ago or ever since I receive the device. Is there anyway you can show me a log of my activity?" If they can't for any reason, it's bullshit. Don't admit fault, and just tell them, "It may have been a mistake in the system, but I'll be more careful. Thank you for letting me know about it."
You're not in any trouble. They're just being assholes, which can happen at any job no matter how nice you are. Just don't allow them to make you dig your own grave.
