Women: when looking for a man for a long term relationship

Attraction isn't a choice.

Personality, mental and emotional, etc connection and attraction is obviously the most important but I would prefer to not be with an absolute minger =P

Well I do want my boyfriend to be good-looking. So sue me. I know people say that's shallow, but that's the honest truth. I'm pretty sure that's a natural thing to want anyway.

You can only say that looks matter if it's a one night stand type of thing, but in the words of Mrs. Zapata on Edward from Twilight "If you're going to spend eternity with one man, he might as well by sexy"

Women need security, which comes in the form of money.
Women need other forms of security such as emotional security in terms of having a man who is able to tolerate their emotional instability.
Women need a man who looks good enough to be attractive to other women but who is insecure to the point where he will not take advantage of his looks and bang every woman in site.
Some immature women need a man who gets the thumbs up from mother and friends.

So far I've found that if I'm not physically attracted and/or he's too extroverted for me, disaster will inevitably strike

Ideally i want someone passive but undeniably equal to me, and the calm/soothing or contagiously happy type to keep me from wallowing in self pity as i tend to do periodically

I don't give a damn if he's "gorgeous". All that matters to me is that he looks good to me. And that I enjoy his personality.

As Judge Judy says, "Looks fade but dumb lasts forever." So personality is preferred and if he's really ugly you can hide him at home.
