"We have in the past few decades come from a position of being absolutely dominated and controlled by men to having equal rights laws in most parts of the world."
1) On average, women still paid 20-30% less than men. That is NOT equal.
2) Systemic gender inequality still exists in developed nations, and in poorer countries, women are routinely raped then stoned to death for it!
3) Because women give birth, they will always be disadvantaged when pregnant and afterward making them reliant on A LOT of outside help, which men are not beholden to, especially when they can just walk away, often without consequence. In countries without birth control (hell, even in countries WITH it) impoverished women and young girls have few (if any) paths out of poverty once they've become impregnated.
4) Women are still underrepresented in the political arena of all countries. Look at governing bodies. Are they half female?? No, not even close. It's still very much a patriarch the world over.
5) Legislation upholding the status of women as property still exists today! And woman are constantly represented as objects for sexual gratification that can be bought &/or sold. Does that seem equal to you?
6) "most parts of the world" does not include the most women. There are FAR MORE women suffering horrific standards of living than women who don't. BILLIONS of women suffer human rights violations as a way of life.
7) Are you a man??
