Why would you want to cost someone their job over something so trivial? Maybe she needs that job just to make ends meet and feed her kids? Maybe it's her second job and then has to go to a third one, just to put food on the table?

Thank you. Someone not smiling at them is just not something any stable person makes a fuss over. I see the op hasn't put in any more disputes on this page about this, and has seen all these people's responses and finally gets it.
Most supervisors are not going to fire an employee over one customer complaining about her not smiling, especially if she's someone who has been getting good words from people about what a great worker she is, even if she hasn't. It could happen though if the employee has already gotten other complaints from customers and/or other co workers about problems she's been having, and her job's already hanging by a thread.
