As a previous cashier, maybe they thought you were cute, and didn't want you to notice. Maybe they were just tired of fake smiling and you happened to come to their line at the wrong time. Maybe they were thinking about something and forgot about their customer service duties. Or maybe they just didn't like the way you looked or something... Or maybe the cashier was a butt for no reason. Usually when I get one's like that I ignore it, or if I want to make them feel bad, I say hello and ask how their day is going (Kill 'em with kindess).
It's probably most likely either her getting tired of fake smiling, or it's her not liking how I look. That was one of your listed possibilities, and I've been told I'm not the best looking. I don't think how someone looks should give someone an excuse to treat em differently, but not everyone agrees with that thinking. We are in a prejudice world.
A cashier makes minimum wage and their job is just endless, repetitive scanning of peoples junk food. I'm surprised any of them can smile. Either way, this is about the last thing you need to worry about.
Yes, that's true. But don't worry about some cashier not smiling at you, or worry about why she's smiling at someone else and not you, that's trivial shit that really doesn't bother most people. You notice how many people checked the box that says "I wouldn't care or say anything" and how many people checked the box "it would bother me and I'd tell her it did"?
