Is this the first time you've had a tooth extraction?
It's not that much different, hardly pleasant but excellent anaethesia is used these days and you won't feel any pain until that wears off and even then it'll be manageable with ordinary painkillers.
One tip: don't use alcohol for the pain, it slows down bloodclotting and therefore healing - all those war and cowboy movies where the injured person's friends ply him with alchohol are very misleading, ditto smoking if you have any sort of wound, but particularly in the mouth.
