Most likely. I think dogs would initially be distressed because you aren't responding to them, but once they get hungry they will do what nature designed them to do; Scavenge to survive. It's nothing personal, it doesn't mean they never loved you, but many animals just don't have the same hang ups about food and death that we do. I'm not sure if a cat would do this, though. They seem to prefer fresh kills over scavenging.
