Why would it disband? To break from a thousand years of history needs a very good reason in my opinion. Or certainly a better reason than the mores of the modern day, where people are voted out in television polls which mean absolute squat.
I am not a monarchist particularly. Nor am I afraid of change. But would you really disband the Commonwealth and install as head of our new republic President Blair, or President Sugar, or President Cowell?
Be careful what you wish for - you might just get it.
