I never maxed out in my prime. The most I ever benched was three 45 plates on each side. But I think I could have gotten more. Thats back when I did sets of 80-100 pushups. Right now I can only do like 35 pushups and im already working out with 200. Kinda crazy. I wonder how much I could get up to on benchpress if I really tried
The muscle mass is there for probably mid 3's but maximizing all that muscles ability to exert force for one rep and also optimizing your technique will take a while.
Yeah most imbalances don't show up until you go real heavy. Uneven bench side to side is a common thing. I have had it myself before but not for a while. I did extra tricep work for the side that came up slower and just kept programming bench the same and eventually it went away.

Yeah that was my problem when I tried to max. I was pushing the bar up on one side more.
