Why western media only reported that china's negative news?

Hello everyone, I am a Chinese student from Shanghai, in the European study. Most of the teachers and students are very friendly to me, and some even very interested in China. But why the Western media seems only negative news coverage of China, so there is some discrimination against Chinese Westerners think all Chinese people are very rude, very poor, very backward. Only been to China's foreign friends to know China is very friendly, and the Chinese people are very wealthy east. I also know that there are a lot of Chinese people's quality needs to improve, but it also requires a development process, is not it? Thank you, please rational discussion.

Try the BBC news. They seem to have less bias than any other news service.

It's not only China. Western media has negative coverage on everything. Heck, western media has negative coverage on itself and sometimes even argues with other western media. The point is that the entire world is corrupt, or at least that's what TV is trying to convey to me.

Oh, and regarding the USA particularly, it's mainly because China is regarded as a threat to our standing as a world "superpower."

    嘿,欢迎来到IIN!

News in general tends to focus on negative aspects of society because most people are more likely to tune in on terrible news rather than positive news.

About the negativity towards China, someone else has said that it's because of its communist powers. I'm quite certain that's one of the reasons.

The news is always negative regardless of the country it is reporting on. They do it for ratings. I can guarantee that if I were to turn on the local news I would hear all negative stories despite the fact that I live in a low crime area.

No, under normal circumstances, is generally more wealthy families with children would consider studying abroad, so you can quickly master a foreign language. Because the number of Chinese users, although large, but does not belong to the world's common language, but in the future, you can determine China will be more powerful, society needs more people will speak a foreign language.

And do the communists get to enjoy more wealth and freedom than the rest?

Not so. In fact, only a few communists, they are government officials. People do not care about politics, nor interest. And you may not believe that China is now in fact a capitalist country, socialism is just a name, because the Chinese government in order to face so it will not admit it. Therefore, China's rapid economic growth in recent years has reached the second of the world's total. So there are a lot of people rich up by business. Many of their children, if not get into a good university in China would consider going abroad to learn some Western thought, language, indicating that Chinese people are wealthy, is not it?because study abroad need very high cost, also not every country has so many families can afford it. thank u .

News serves their political and national interests. It has the favoritism towards the counties regarded as part of "US", ie Western counties. Clearly, China is not one of them. Neither is Russia. Why you are so concerned how the west media portrays China? I never bother to read as i know whats putting on there. Pollution, cheap labor, dishonest trade, currency exchange manipulation, blablabla. Just ignore it and move on. They have their right to write whatever they prefer and we have our right to move on building our nation to Make it better! We don't care what they think.

Media is used only to push opinions into the minds of people who have become institutionalized by society.

They're not a communist government, though. The Communist Party of China is communist only by name, as a legacy of Mao's era.

China is basically a state capitalist country. They are so far from communism it's funny.

Although I'd say the suspicion from 'The West' of China is partly fuelled by its association with the rise of communism in the 21st century, in the same way that Russia's reputation is still marred by its part in the Soviet Union despite it, too, developing into a capitalist country.

Don't get mad my friend. I am also Chinese. Even though China has many issues to deal with right now, such as relatively less wealthy population, pollution in some areas, not entirely democratic political system, etc. But after visiting USA, you will realize it's also not a heaven, with quite serious economic and social issues. They also have a large poor population and neighborhoods, invisible discrimination towards some social groups, etc. Whenever they say some bad things about China, don't take it personally. We will be strong again!

Yes, you say that the existence of these problems China. As students, we are also very hate these phenomena, but you are not Chinese people may not know that China is too big, too many ethnic, very difficult to manage these problems with the sound system, I believe, can be greatly improved, in fact, many problems have been gradually solved. People's Republic of China founding a short time, a lot of things need to be improved, but we have to admit that China has always been the world's most promising future of the country is not it?
