Why was that show friends so popular?

i ended up watching lots of tv last summer with no job and saw alot episodes of friends and i dont get why people rave about it so much like its legendary epicness. it's like seinfeld but with a dumb fonzie rip off. does anybody here still watch that show?

    It's not the worst show I've ever seen bits of but I never really got into it. One of my teachers in high school got the Rachel haircut and I had no idea what she was talking about.

    "Friends" was from the 90s when people didn't have anything to do but sit in front of the TV.
    I haven't heard anyone mention that show for at least 15 years now.
