Morons tend to answer surveys because of their lack of self awareness. People with average or above average intelligence decline out of fear of being embarrassed on camera. So you end up with skewed results.
This is actually really true. A lot of people who tend to be on camera for any reason on those segments are usually the ignorant kind. Studies say people who are eager to answer questions first in a room full of people are usually the least intelligent in the room so it's the same thing.

They find the dumbest people they can and just show that. That's not a fair representation of Americans. Most Americans are not as dumb as that.
