Why should we have to believe in god to accomplish anything?

  • The answer is in my first statement, it helps them feel at peace with mortality and gives them a way by which to live their life.

    But it doesn't matter anyway!

Because how exactly does our being right about the nature of existence benefit you or I? What is the point of what you believe? How does it improve your life?

    Lol.

      • Because people like you think it matters in the first place, thus causing a divide.

        • It does matter. If there was no religion this argument wouldn't happening.

          • "And there would be no argument if everyone was religious instead, your point is totally invalid. There is religion so it's not an option anyway. A person doesn't start the argument by believing in god, they're minding there own business and believing what they want. But then others come up and attack this belief, thusly starting the argument. This argument was started by a non religious person. And I, the person arguing with you, am also non religious! But I'm also not so ignorant that I can't grasp basic truths and concepts. And the truth is it doesn't matter if god is real or not, because the basic word of god is to be good to people and last I checked that is what we want. If believing in some made up thing stops people from killing and robbing each other then good! It's no skin off my nose, or yours! You focus on religion as the problem and you will be blinded to the real evils of this world."

            • You don't need god to do good things. That makes you a failure not a human. You don't need god to get an answer to a simple question, you need brain and some time.

There is a religion, that is a problem. It should be removed. Last time I checked we write year 2013.

              • You still don't get that I'm talking about the religious practice itself, god being real or not is irrelevant to that practice, so your entire argument is invalid before it even begins. It simply doesn't matter as most religions basically preach the same thing, be good to others. And I never said a person has to be religious to be good, because that also makes no difference to my point. What you're talking about has nothing to do with what I'm saying in the slightest, you seem to misconstrue virtually everything that people on IIN say to you.
