Why spoil and not enhance? I think egos are annoying, but I think some animals have their own version of an ego. Like pack animals who need an alpha. Can that not be viewed as an expression of ego? It is their nature. But what of human nature is beyond nature itself?
No, it is not ego. Animals, besides some case of monkeys and other rare exceptions, do not possess an ego. They are pure instictive beings, not an egoic ones.
If you haven't studied ego a bit and why it is spoiling humanity, you won't be able to understand this conversation.
Human nature is limited by its own ego. That's why humans suffer and possess useless emotions like shame and pride.
Do you have, or have you ever owned a dog? They very much show shame.
And I am going disagree on the ego thing. It presents itself a bit differently across species, but animals still have a sense of self.
I understand the conversation well enough. But what makes you an expert on the topic of ego? Or animal behavior for that matter. Forgive me, but I cannot just take your word for it.
It's you that interpret it as shame but it is not.
You don't get to disagree with facts. It's not up to your or me to decide. I didn't come up with that out of the blue.
I've been studying philosophy for years. I KNOW what I'm saying. Most other animals lack some fundamental things (or are lucky to not have them) to be able to have an ego.
But maybe you're refering to another definition of ego which people commonly mistake as only a sense of self. If that's the case then yes, they can have that kind of "ego" (althrough it's not the real philosophical ego).
why people believe there is tomorrow?

So only a philosophical definition of ego is real?
There are plenty of facts that support animal egos. Since when is philosophy the epitome of facts?
And in my pithy amount of philosophical study, even I KNOW that only fools claim to know any thing.
Sadly, I don't have the energy to write out literally all the thoughts in my head.
