Why must i look nice every where i go?

I don't know why but every time i go some where i have to look nice and be dressed appropriatley! i can never go to a store with sweatpants on or my hair all horrible. i always must fix my hair put on jeans! its a habit.it drives my family crazy.
Im not pretty i know that..
so could it be cause of self-esteem problems?/

  • I'm the same way, it's not a big deal. I have decent confidence and decent self esteem but at the same time I still like to look presentable because you never know who you'll run into, or where you'll run into them at. It's really not a big deal, don't worry about it :)

  • It's self esteem problems. I am the same way. Like, I think I look bad enough dressed up, so I don't want to go out j public looking worse, with no make up and stuff.

  • You probably are a little pretty! Everyone has something that make them pretty. And I totally do that but I think of myself as pretty. My parents yell at me and tell me that were not going to a fashion show, but I simply reply back that life is a fashion show.

  • You need to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks.

  • You're civilized. Keep it up as long as it doesn't take up a lot if time. I wish more people cared about the way they look. I see people at work that look like they just rolled out of bed. I from the old school and good grooming was important.

  • Sounds completely normal to me. I know people who are much much worse and will spend ages putting on makeup just to pick their little sister up from school.
Personally I don't even own sweatpants, I'm always in jeans, but if I did I would certainly get changed before going anywhere.
I have low maintenance hair - as long as it's been washed it looks fine - and I'm okay with going out with no makeup (I normally just wear mascara except when I'm making an effort).

But if I thought I looked messy I would definitely fix it before leaving the house.

  • Yep i agree with joliegems.
I on the other hand am a slob and your way seems better!

  • I don't see anything wrong with it. You have a good sense of personal self worth. Don't let slobs trick you into thinking something is wrong with you. If you had horrible self esteem you wouldn't even be able to care about your appearance and you would go around in your pajamas and dirty hair.

People that take better care of themselves tend to get more self respect, higher positions in jobs and go further in life.

If you look and smell like a bum there is no company on this earth that will give you a lead management position or want you to represent them.

  • "I'm not pretty I know that.
Could I have self esteem problems?"
You answered your own question. I have the opposite problem I wanna be comfortable and dont feel like "conforming" to dolling up for strangers. The few times I do dress up is mostly for my boyfriend.

  • Nothin wrong with not liking to look like you come from poverty. Sometimes I just dnt give a fuck though... then the dirty feeling sets in rather quickly

  • Because you care about your looks, and don't want to look like you just got out of bed. I see alot of people who look like they are in pajamas.

  • I do the opposite. Sweatpants, Uggs and a hoodie with my hair tied up somewhere and I'm good to go. I enjoy getting dressed up and stuff but I could never do it daily and all the time. I think you have self esteem problems. I think you need to talk to a professional.
