Why most people prefer new england clam chowder

I've always noticed that most people prefer New England clam chowder over Manhattan clam chowder, I'm one of them. There are a lot of foods that Manhattan, New York really does best; pizza, Italian food, and delicatessens, NYC really does produce the best of those. But clam chowder is one thing that New England does better. Anyone agree? Check box which one you like better.

  • I find most New England clam chowders to have too much cream and butter. Manhattan and a few nice dashes of Tabasco will warm you right up and pull you back from the dark side.

    • I've never tried Manhattan clam chowder with tabasco sauce, that may be good. I totally stand by though in my opinion that nowhere else in America besides New York city can you find even close to the same level of fantastic quality of Italian food and pasta. Most Italian American New Yorkers know how to make it just like their ancestors did and take serious pride in their food. I've eaten in Italian restaurants in NYC and elsewhere in the US, and I know what I'm talking about. New York has the best pizza too, with deep dish pizza in Chicago being a close second.

        • When I was in New York, two incredibly good Italian restaurants I ate at were were Carmines and at Cecil. Two amazingly good pizzerias I had were Joe's pizza and a place called Patzeria. One fabulous delicatessen I ate at was Sarge's. They ALL had food MUCH better and tastier than any Italian, pizza, and delis I've ever tried anywhere else in America. You ever eaten at any of them?

            • When I was in South Florida, where I got family, I wanted to try a pizzeria down there, and since there were a lot of New Yorkers down there, I thought that maybe the pizza would be as good as in New York. Nope, not even close, very mediocre pizza no better than in much of the US. I guess to get true New York pizza, you can't just go somewhere where there are New Yorkers around, you have to actually go to New York.
