I don't have an answer for all your observations, and some have very obvious answers but Black Friday is a reference to the color of text used in accounting. Many companies are in the red (not making a profit) until the holiday season. The holiday season is a chance for them to turn a profit and therefore, the numbers in the books change from red to black. It is usually documented on white paper, or a white screen. If they made it white, you couldn't read it.
Now I can hear you asking, "why not make the paper black and use white ink?" And to that, I reply..."stop it."
And for those who "celebrate" Black Friday. Please shop locally!
Why isn't there a 'White Friday'?

I know. 'Red' = Indians...bad! Black = yay! Looting the public to make a profit. Typical.
And they both walk all over the white paper, taking up space and shit. Totally unfair.
