Africa as a continent remains poor because they do not band together and create a single country. And because as each country became emancipated, instead of trading for better infrastructure and enriching their entire country, each leader, chosen or self made chose to instead trade their countries resources for themselves and a chosen few. A practice which unfortunately still persists as each new leader takes power.
A very unfortunate circumstance which is not helped by the fact that other countries know this and exploit it.
