Why is Africa still poor after all these years?

  • Revolution only works if the commoners stand a ghost of a chance against the ruling party. When the dictators have access to armies and high power rifles and bombs... well, warfare has changed a lot. It's much easier than it ever was for the ones with wealth and power to retain such things.

Africa has a long and sordid history of dictatorships, exploitation from more developed countries and tragedy that has kept it, shy of certain regions (like Dubai) from pulling back together.

That's not to say it can't happen, and there are wonderful humanitarian efforts out there to help uplift these countries who have suffered so much, but it's a huge undertaking and not something that will be achieved quickly or easily, especially when so many western nations still benefit from the exploitation of cheap labor in third world countries.

    • They will never be uplifted. We nice westerners are giving them jobs, but robots are becoming so precise, so quickly that in 10 years they will all be unemployed raping and murdering each other again. Get back to your sewing machine and keep making tee shirts for 35 cents and hour. And, be happy about it.
