why does the media want hysteria over monkeypox?

  • Eh, I hate sensationalism just as much as I hate flippancy. People use the media's overexaggeration of any given issue to go ahead and massively underexaggerate the same issue (referencing coronavirus).

Anyway, monkeypox seems like it could legitimately become a big deal for the gay community, and if it spreads too much, it could end up affecting everyone else, but fortunately it doesn't seem to be deadly. Something not killing you doesn't mean it's not dangerous, though. It can carry a significant financial burden, especially in the US, and more severe cases can happen for a myriad of reasons.

That's pretty much it, though. I'd recommend just avoiding any more news that talks about it unless something bigger happens with it.
