Why do you think people die?

I don't want to hear a bunch of "Metabolism dumbass", or any answers concerning Tithonus. Philosophical or thoughtful answers are appreciated. Criticism over a poll is not.

Scientifically, because cells are less able to replicate themselves accurately as one ages.

Philosophically, to allow us to better appreciate our existence and all that comes with it.

I think if we had the ability to live forever, the majority of long lived people would kill themselves, life's tough. I think one lifetimes enough for most.

There is no reason for why we die. Just the byproducts of finite life that we learn to accept.

Make sure you have a distinction between causes and consequences. There are a lot of consequences of death, but the direct cause of death is limited to what happens to a body while it is alive.

Death is the disease that no organism has ever been able to cure. Too much entropy in a system that needs stability to fight that off forever.
