I mean, I totally get how someone can get stuck in a rut from a bad relationship or having someone from the opposite sex bring them down because maybe they were rejected or something. And sometimes that rut can take forever to get out of. It happens to the best of us. Really, it does. You can live a decade of independence and that one person can set you back for years. Ultimately, though, everyone's goal should be to live a life in which they've moved on from those seemingly immature things. But I've been there myself and it definitely can be hard to get out of, which is why I try to at least empathize a little.
