Very true in many cases. They act so complicated and have so much drama in their lives too. I mean just fuck your dad or someone who looks like your dad already or go get some professional help. Some people feed off of drama to survive. They live off of tears and pain.
Some people do not like vanilla which is probably something you are into. Some people like being gagged, choked, tied to a chair and all sorts of fetishes. I think these in particular would fall under masochism and humiliation. Some people are into it but some people are not. However there is different limits and rules for each person into this type of thing. Some people might like choking but not like bondage so its entirely up to the person.

I still think the majority of them were abused and neglected by mommy and daddy or someone in their childhood, most likely an authority figure.
