It isn't just "Twilight" that made this so, it's a barrage of shows and movies romantisizing vampires, specifically male vampired. I mean, you have things like Vampire Diaries, that I tried to get in to but watched half an hour of one episode and it didn't have anything to do with vampires, just romance things like a damn soap opera, True Blood, Twilight, and so on.
