I liked collecting the cards when I was 10. It's fun having pretty looking illustrated collectibles with different imaginary characters. Never knew you could use the cards to play a game until way too late.
Also couldn't afford a Gameboy when I was younger so never played the video game.
Anyway, I moved on. The card packs were a lot of my pocket money and I got over the novelty fairly quickly. I also thought the cartoon sucked balls and had the shittest animation on TV - though for some reason I still watched it every Saturday morning.
As for adults liking it, a lot of adults get into things originally designed for children. Maybe they find it nostalgic, an enjoyable hobby, or maybe they are emotionally child-like :P Nothing wrong with it I suppose.
Why do people like pokemon?
