  • It's practice for the "real" relationships you'll have as an adult. Before even those teenage dating experiences, you practice treating people you love with respect through your friendships you have in childhood. It's all practice for the big game.

    That's why people cringe when they meet prospective mate who has no relationship experience. It is because it's a pain in the ass dealing with someone who doesn't know how to behave appropriately in a relationship. So many relationship novices are needy, emotionally volatile, and selfish.
