I only enjoyed school if I got a teacher who respected the class but still set limits, and who provided material that was challenging and actually taught me something useful. I hated elementary school English because I was reading independently at the age of 3 and spelling multi-syllabic words by 6, and the classroom material was always too easy for me. My teachers gave me more advanced work, but I still feel I didn't learn much. I hated that 95% of what I learned would never be used by me again. I've struggled in university and done badly because I never learned how to study, or write a paper, or write notes effectively. I had only two high school teachers who did university preparation in 12th grade, the rest just gave us lots of busywork.
That's just my opinion. :) Schools need to be better.
