Another reason for the start could be from stress or anxiety. Overall, it's just a form of release. You certainly should seek some form of professional help, because cutting can have serious consequences. If you decide not to, at least know where to avoid cutting (major vessels and arteries) and make sure to always stay safe and clean as possible. But really, go get some help.
