Why do black men like obese women?

Not even like kind of overweight but full blown obese

(I'm black. That's right, I'm preemptively playing the race card.)

I don't find them particularly attractive, but I have an estranged uncle from Africa who was really into them. Hearing about his story from my Mom made me think part of this phenomenon might be ancestral, and internet research has backed it up.

Being fat actually means something in a place where everyone isn't already fat, especially when the place hasn't yet been westernized to think "fat = unhealthy". It can mean wealth, it can mean power, and in women--especially in the eyes of heterosexual men--it can mean fertility. There isn't really a limit to how overweight they can be, the concept of obesity isn't really there, so being heavier just means being sexier.

Shift over to black men born and raised in the US, and they might just inherit some of that preference, but in a more directly-sexual way. A simple body type preference without any related thoughts about their status (neither theirs nor how it will affect yours). "More cushion for the pushin'" to be blunt.

At the end of the day, it's not much different from any other type preference, as long as it's not taken to extremes. And by "extremes", I don't mean the weight itself, I mean stuff like encouraging women to become more obese, or otherwise treating them like objects.

The reason that uncle is "estranged", even though he went on to be quite successful, is because my aunt wasn't comfortable with how over-the-top his "affection" was, and he eventually cheated on her in response to her distancing herself, triggering a divorce.

Anyway, take all that with a grain of salt, I'm not exactly an anthropologist. Obviously, not all black men like obese women. For the ones that do, though, that may shed a little light on why.

Oh, that's not what I meant. Of course being fat is unhealthy, I was just saying it's not seen as unhealthy in some cultures.
