Why can most people not differentiate between "your" and "you're"?

    Or I just realized my post could be misinterpreted.

    The part:

    - You ...make this mistake

    I don't mean it to mean "you make this mistake, <some swear word>"

    I put the - You as a method of quoting you. The ...make this mistake finishes the quote through paraphrasing.
