Why are teenagers lazy and non motivated

My daughter is in her 19th year and nearing 20 but is still a very confused child, has no sense of direction, easily cries for some reason or the other. She doesn't like making friends anymore as she doesn't trust anyone after being betrayed many times by boys and girls. She refuses to talk to anybody. She stays on her own in her room and is tempered all the time. is there any solution to all this behaviour?

Sounds like me. Well. It looks like she feels she's alone in the world, which is true. Atleast she knows. I know this. You may think: "oh no, she's not alone, i'm here, and she has family" yeah... what about when you all die and her siblings get a family of their own and never see eachother again. Who is there for her to trust. Also, she can't even trust her siblings. Seems to me she doesn't give a care about life anymore, kinda like me. She's tired of all the lies and unknowingness in the world, how scientists lie and how things in this world isn't 100%% true. She's realized how you don't justt have hormones at an age, you have them at every age, and how everyone has them. Meaning the human race is insane. We're all crazy, mad, insane people, whether you believe it or not, it's the truth. She realized how love is fake, and how unlikely it is that she'll live a fairy tale. Yes, that fairy tales are not true or real. Well that is all I have to say about that.

But for myself - If my parents try to push me to do something I don't want to do one more time... i'd rather be you know what, and i will do it.

    - 17 year old female.

  • No offence but there was no need to put "Why are teenagers lazy and non motivated" as your title, you've basically stereotyped all the teenagers out there. For exmaple I'm 18 in my final year at college hoping to go to University to study Law next year. There seems to be quite a lot of teens who are motivated and actually want to do something with their lives.
I suggest you provide your daughter with some helpful advice in the future to help her overcome her behaviour.

My god get her some HELP!!! sounds like depression...maybe bipolar...get her to a therapist NOW..if you can't afford it...seek help from the county/state ...there are places who help for free or reduced rates. She's NOT normal...

  • she might have anxiety. But I'm like her, so I think it's normal. And I definitely don't have anxiety.

(im from norway so not so good at englishwriting)THE TRUTH: I THINK ITS BECAUSE HERE MOTHER IS THIS BOORING PERSON AND SCHOOL IS LAME AND HER MOTHER just wanna be this "I doo the right thing all the time" just fuck that shit and do something CRAZY with your daughter instead of writing _shit_ about her in the internet,HELLO??? and yes she is MORE THAN normal but certanly you should let your hair down and remember that you were a teenager, bond with her and dont try to change who she is, even though you dont understand show her you are trying and have som crazy good time with her and be a little unpredictable. It would bring you closer;) Just think about it. BUT DONT WRITE SHIT ABOUT HER IN THE INTERNET speak with her instead its you thats too afraid.

Well, Im 19 too and as soon as I get off from work, I love doing nothing. :) I live for myself in a apartment, and basically I just do all my chorus asap and just stay in my room for the rest of the evening. I do have some friends, but I've known for very long and see them kinda 4-5 times a month. My colleagues are plenty social activity for me.

  • Don't ask me, most of the teenagers on this site are too lazy to use the shift key.

Sounds very much like a marijuana addiction, but maybe she just can't get any brighter than a six year old. I would confront her about her addiction. Long-term use can cause permanent problems.
