Why are people so triggered about kneeling?

To start off I will say that I don't give a shit about kneeling or Colin or Nike or whatever. As far as I see it Colin had the right to do what he did I don't care why he did it he just has that right. Nike is a private company that made a choice to endorse him so I don't get why people are demanding that they stop. People say that people died for the flag to defend our freedoms so we can freely express ourselves but as soon as someone dose it people say they can't do it. My answer is what did they die for why even fight for freedoms when you get mad when people actually use it. You don't even have to agree with the guy like I said I don't give a shit but he is well with in his rights he isn't hurting anyone so what's the deal. I would like to know why are people mainly conservatives so triggered by the flag issue.

        My whole family was in the military, and both my grandfathers earned a Purple Heart. I see pledging allegiance to the Flag as a Thank you to everyone who fought for this country and appreciation that you live in this country, and by taking a knee I feel like they are taking the focus away from what they are really supposed to honoring. I believe that he has the right to take a knee, however he could find another way to protest. He could also do it when he’s not working because that unprofessional.
        He’s getting paid millions to play the game not protest.
        But that’s how I take it. I respect other people’s opinions and freedom to do what they want.

          When they take that knee, they are basically telling your grandfathers, "Yes you risked your lives and even got hurt to protect our freedoms but fuck you anyways".

          As an ex-military myself (though i never had to fight) but tell your family "Thank you" from those of us who DO respect what young men and women have had to face to keep the rest of us safe.

Look people aren't going to see eye to eye with each other and it's clear that you don't get why the other people are doing what they are doing but as you put people's grandfathers died for their right to do so. So why get mad I have plenty of people in my family that serviced past and present and the the present ones are like me when it comes to the issue. It's not hurting anyone so it's their right to do it.

        Those who had to die for said freedoms probably were not thinking that future generations would abuse their rights or use them in in such a way.

        Blatantly disrespecting one's own country, anthem, or whatever is a slap in the face to dead war veterans. Displaying their discontent on national TV during the anthem is about as disrespectful as it gets.

        But that is alright. At least they are being honest showing the true content of their character. Hmm, wasn't that line used in a famous speech?

    He has the right to do it because police violence against black people is real and is still a big issue. People talk about the kneeling but do not talk about the institutionalised racism. The USA and the media makes the kneeling a major issue but do not really address the real problem and this is what is sick.

    About NIKE, it is just a company aiming at maximising profit and using this to buzz. They did know that there would be people who would go crazy about it and it's all in their marketing technique. Does Nike give a fuck about police violence? NO. For Nike it's just about profit. They don't give a fuck about the cause he is defending. Nike is another company that exploits its employees and make profit margins of more than 100%.

    On another side the campaign has made people outside the USA that were not aware of these problems to question why people are burning their Nikes? They are researching and many are realising that the image that the USA projects and the real situations are two different things. The struggle is being internationalised and that's the only good thing about that campaign.

    So from a minority stand point (since some of the comments are based off of complete stupidity). Kneeling is basically a peaceful protest against the inequalities of minorities in America. Blacks or whomever are getting racially profiled and murdered by cops in many states and guess what. They all say it was self defense and get paid leave. No investigations or anything even with a body camera that shows the person was innocent. Most people want justice. Yes some people have turned it into a publicity stunt especially the BLM movement but its not to say all lives dont matter. It's saying black lives matter because of the injustice. People treat it as a joke but its something people really worry about. Like how the KKK can still legally rally with the history they have...a hate group. You don't see people in Germany talking about the Swastika and Holocaust? No because it's forbidden. Trump is bringing out all of the secret racists but no one bats an eye but a man kneeling for something dear to him gets all of the hate.

One person kneeling is something new and scary to those who believe in (dumb) founding traditions. Some people are so thick headed that they don't understand that there are other ways to respect. Why even bring up the countries were people get killed for protesting when you are somewhat advocating for a oppressive option. So people would leave their homelands the places they were born in because they have a different opinion. They never said they hate America I have been paying attentions since day one and I haven't heard them utter that. People are going to protest no matter how much you don't like it over things that you don't agree with but it's their right the first amendment protects that. Love is not blindly following anything or denying that any flaws exist. Love is not believing that your object of affection can do no wrong. That, my good friend, is idolization.

      I'm the largest patriot I know. I would literally die defending this country if threats ever touched our borders. I've lived here my entire life, I do community outreach in my city, I treasure every memory I've had here as well as all of the people I've met. I love the vision of America. I love this rebellious culture that believes in individuality, of a meritocracy with open arms where the rich, poor, healthy, and sick are welcome to a chance at success. When I hear the line from the constitution, that - "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". It makes me proud. I stand for that, and I always will.

      However, standing for America means that I stand for it to do its best. It means that when any government stands in the way of those truths, when a large chunk of the population denies those truths, I will contest. Its, in fact, a vital part of the American spirit to do so. I love America. That makes it my responsibility to hold it responsible for its short-comings and push it to do its best - not "shut up and leave".

    People think that because they made the decision to serve in the military to fight for rich people's financial investments (Usually they do it for school or money or direction in life etc, and not out of patriotism) that everybody needs to worship them. We get it you are willing to sacrifice yourself for the common good of the nation why not be a little humble. Like you said most aren't even joining for those reasons so why act like it was for completely selfless reasons. It's always something that has bothered me what if someone isn't for foreign interventions why do they have to praise a institution they don't agree with. Also it's funny how a superpower like America is always at risk from being invaded by foreign countries that happen to have resources we need.         Exactly. I'm not bashing people who serve, even though I believe that most of the things that they are doing aren't really for everyone's good or that they're really protecting us from real threats, but I'll imagine most of them have good intentions. They lose me when they basically expect you to woship them as a hero, or like you said blindly submit to them and credit them with being a good person no matter what because they were in the military.
