Being afraid of the dark is normal. We don't see very good in the dark, we cannot have a control of the things around us if we do not see them properly. Lastly, it's the fear of the unknown darkness brings. You can overcome it by trying to sleep without the lights. If you have the time, on weekends (if you work or are in school), you can force yourself into being very sleepy (by not sleeping a day maybe?) and actually having to fall asleep, pop those lights off, and lie down. It worked for me anyway, I grew up sleeping under constant lightning and just felt scared when someone would take them off. It takes time, but trust me, there's nothing there and your mind is playing tricks with you.
Why am i afraid of the dark?
