Many years ago a friend stopped me from killing myself by persuading me to at least wait until the next day and years later I did the same for someone else.
I wouldn't stop someone if I found out accidentally they were planning suicide, but if someone brings it up I would assume they want to be talked out of it and would therefore try.
I do believe we all have the right to end our lives if we want to and I plan to do so when I reach end stage COPD or develop terminal cancer, because I don't want to linger on in pain.
Who of you would actually try to help someone suicidal feel better?
