  • Yes and I do too but the fact is all lab work and medical research is done on animals. I personally think they should do it on convicted life row prisoners. Since they cost housing a lot of money. They are automatically cleared of all debt when sent to prison and they basically do nothing for community at this point. They do more damage to community if they let them out. So why not use them as test rats apposed to all these creatures that are innocent which we breed purely for experiments.

    • I can agree on what concerns the animals, though I'm not entirely sure about using prisoners as a substitute. Perhaps only for the most hardened and violent criminals, though it would be hard to set boundaries.
My fear is that it would be used as an excuse to torture and kill possibly innocent citizens (after all, many great people such as nelson mandela were considered criminals at the time).
That said it I bet it would drastically lower violent crime rates. Even so, nowadays tissue cultures can be grown in a petri dish to perform tests on. The sole reason animal testing continues to exist is laziness.

      • Well I was thinking death row and life sentenced prisoners. Since they are usually charged for multiple account of rape, murder, pedophiles. They have no chance of getting out and we are basically just paying for them to live in a cage since they decided to be fucked up people. Now Not something like stealing a car or minor offences. Things like jay walking and so on. However we have so many prisoners they actually began letting a lot of them out. If it is drug addicts I think we need to send these people to rehab and get them some help. Also I believe we should have a month. They have companies that can prove if you are innocent even after put in jail. So give them a few months to prove they are not guilty.

        • Yes, I do agree that the amount of money spent on prisoners is disgraceful. They are even given gaming consoles in some UK prisons. I believe that forced labour should be reintroduced. Nothing terrible, just eight hours six days a week doing useful work to earn their keep and lower taxes.

Repeated offenders for crimes such as rape or murder could perhaps be used as test subjects or other useful but deadly tasks. Just killing them painlessly seems redundant and not enough of a deterrent to people who think they can do whatever they want because they don't care about death. Not even a suicidal person could possibly not mind being a test subject.

          • No I am not saying attack suicidal people. These people are sad and they need attention and help. Just because someone is suicidal does not mean we should punish them. They are obviously depressed because of something. We should not take advantage of someone in such a state. Being suicidal does not mean you murdered or raped so I do not see how that is even relevant to this. I also do not think mental patients should be tortured since it is not like they chose to be crazy. So abusing a crazy or person in this state is just as bad as killing an innocent animal. Which is really fucked up. I was talking about the no longer innocent. Which most of these criminals are innocent. Some of these people will even laugh in your faces about it. Do you understand suicide? Some of these people are very tortured as well. Someone of them abused by so many. Yet in stead of killing they choose to punish themselves. You aiding to this by saying "Let experiment" Makes you are monster as well. That is just as bad as anything a criminal would do. Suicidal people do not want to be tortured. They want to put an end to their torture.

            • Anyway, although interesting, discussing rather complicated political matters such as these is hard enough in person, let alone over the internet :-/

            • Sorry, I could have been more clear. When I mentioned suicidal people I meant people who don't care about their own life anymore, and think they can do and ultimately 'get away' with anything they want as receiving the death penalty would only mean quick, easy death. Even if someone feels angry at the world and doesn't care about themselves, they should not feel entitled to ruin more lives.
Supposing a depressed person killed for an understandable reason: say they were depressed as a result of somebody oppressing them, and they murdered that person. In my opinion they should not be charged, but if their anger drove them to kill innocent civilians they should be considered guilty. The recent cinema shooting springs to mind.
Likewise, if someone was found to be mentally incapable of controlling their actions, they should not be penalised but receive care.

              • Well that actually goes into self defense. Which some of those cases have a chance of letting them off. I do not think we should send someone to jail for self defense. If you kill someone because they were attacking your child or about to kill them that was self defense. If you kill your captor it was self defense. My point was people who attack for fun. Since some people do these kind of things since they get some kind of joy out of it. They like humiliating and dominating the victims. They are manipulative and fucked up people. If someone killed a rapist trying to escape since they were going to kill them otherwise are you telling me you think they should go to jail if they had no other course of action?

              • People like that have the possibility of doing this kind of thing. It has nothing to do with being angry. They are just not mentally stable. Being unstable is different as they could perceive anything as a motive.

              • Yes the random cinema seemed pretty pointless. I think that is not someone who was angry lashing out. It was a man who was mentally unstable and disillusioll. From what I heard it was a schizophrenia person. So I can see why he may have done it. Which is sad but I do not think it had anything to do with being angry at the world. He was just crazy.
