Who doesn't say fuck anymore?

Everywhere, and I mean Everywhere I go now, everybody says "fuck this", "fucking that", I seriously don't know anybody anywhere anymore who doesn't say "fuck". I realize that it's 2018 and it's such a small deal now, but just out of curiosity, it has changed over the times. Like 30 years ago, it seemed like saying "fuck" a lot was just within certain classes of people and wasn't 100% widespread acceptable the way it has become in the 21st century. Anyone else notice the same? I'm sure most don't even notice anymore since "fuck" is now as casual and acceptable of a word as any other words I'm typing here.

I have noticed it. However I don't say it. I believe I'm one of the very few. But I don't see any reason to. I very rarely swear because I don't like it. I don't get offended when other people swear, but I just don't see the need for me to. I have said that word before, but I very rarely do. I'm a 52 year old man.

It's morphed into common everyday language. My wife doesn't swear at all but I fucking make up for it.

I use the word very rarely and I dont like to hear others use it. However, if they are using to mean sexual intercourse I dont mind it a s much. But then, I'm an old guy.

Conversely, "nigger" is about the edgiest word people can think of these days, but 40+ years ago it was widespread and acceptable like today's "fuck".

You have a point most of the time when I see people using the word nigger they are either trolling or are trying to be a edgelord.

Worlds like fuck of nigger don't bother me only once in my life did someone call me nigger and the guy was clearly a senile old fuck who wished for the good old days but I ignored it.

Which is weird because "faggot" is totally okay.

    • Most places today do not acceptably say the word nigger out loud, except maybe some older communities in places like Alabama where it's still more backwards, and that would only be in more rural places off the beaten path. I heard even Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama are quite modernized. Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC are definitely just as modern as any major US city now. Most places aren't that backwards anymore with the internet everywhere. There may be some older people in the more off the beaten path places in the South who deliberately avoid using this internet because they don't want to be reminded of the ways of modern times.

That's what I'm saying. IDK if what you're saying is true but basically if it is, you're saying that if you said Fuck 30+ years ago people would be disturbed. Nowadays that disturbing word is "the N word", but 30+ years ago, people would NOT be disturbed by "the N word", just as today no one is disturbed by "the F word"

        • That is true. 30+ years ago, there were people who were not bothered at all about the word fuck and said it all the time, just not as many as today. It was more the "wrong side of the tracks" type back then where now it's every normal person from all walks of life.

  • Language is in a constant state of evolution. Linguists agree Cursing isn't necessarily indicative of class or intelligence, but like many stereotypes, it's true some of the time.

Some of you may find this 2014 Huffington Post article interesting. It's entitled: The Origin of 'Fuck'

swearing in front of old people is way worse than compared to a group of 25 year olds.

fuck is just good for exaggerations and expression. its mainly used in a way where they don't mean harm - but use it for, again, expression or comedy. old people tend to view it as a sin and that its a big sign of disrespect and how you really fucking hate everything

I still think it is only that class of people using it. I only do when I am very angry.
