To be blind, deaf, mute, or lame?
Definetely blinds. If your deaf, you dont need to listen to anyone, a complete world of silence and peace. I can still write messages if im mute. Being blind is the worst. Imagine living in complete darkness, only hearing voices and sounds. That would be like a nightmare!
Blindness really isn't that bad. Yes, we don't get to see the faces of loved ones, but we learn to get by. It's truly amazing how adaptable the human mind can be. When people say that blindness is the worst thing, they base it on their own fear of suddenly losing their sight, and not knowing how to cope. I have been blind since birth, and I'm living quite a fulfilling life, as are most other blind people.
To an extent, I'm already all four of those. I have a bad toe at the moment so I'm limping. My vision isn't so good without the contact lenses. My high-end hearing is a bit duff due to listening to music louder than humans should feasibly do and I've also developed a strange way of stumbling over my words when I'm tired and stressed (which I have been for the entirity of this year).
Blindness terrifies me, though. Although I've heard women are often attracted to blind men. And it's just occurred to me for the first time that I should pretend to be blind.
I went suddenly deaf in one ear when my dad died last year. It's awful coz I lost m balance but I'm getting used to it and it's ok. I've also had periods in my life when I couldn't walk following a car accident but that was ok too.
I would hate to be blind though, and not be able to read books or see my son's face, etc.
I pride myself on my hearing capabilities, and to think that I could never hear music again, or the various but precious sounds from a baby, or even certain animal sounds... I'd just rather be dead than deaf.
I'd rather be blind. My vision isn't so great atm anyway, and considering your other senses become enhanced when you lose one, I feel sight would be a menial loss.
