I've declined to date people I wasn't interested in and was considered scum for not giving him or her a chance. I've been insulted by the person that I declined to date and in some cases, the people that they knew. I honestly could not go out with a person I'm not interested in because it only gives the person false hope and I don't want to lead anyone on.
I'm sorry that you were insulted for that, but rather than call it "advice," I'd say that's more of retaliation by people too stupid and resentful to realize the kindness of not leading someone on.
Which piece of advice do you find the most unrealistic?

"If you don't go out with someone you're not interested in, you're scum." Um... never in my life have I ever heard this "advice."
I would say it's "you can do anything you set your mind to" just because "anything" is way too unrealistic.
