  • How would a drunk yelling at squirrels be funny? That's the kind of joke they put in crappy primetime comedies that nobody in my entire family even smirks at. Angry drunks are just sad and disturbing, nothing more.

The other two offer evoke conflicting emotions. If someone farts in a quiet room, you'd be a little paranoid someone would think it was you. If it was really loud and strange sounding, I might have that half-smirk/half-faux-disgusted look to spite myself. I might tell a friend it happened I guess.

Honestly, I'd find the pants splitting the funniest, but I couldn't laugh, because it'd be mean! I'd feel too bad for the humiliated person. I'd probably turn away and stifle a chuckle or something. If I was with someone I might say "aww..." or something of that nature to show my concern.

I have to admit I found it very hard not to laugh when a woman slipped and fell down like seventy outside steps on the ice one winter. I went over to her to help her up because no one else did. I was biting my lip not to laugh, though. I felt horrible, but it really was a comical fall. Luckily she wasn't hurt, or didn't admit to being hurt, but I'm sure she was sore in the morning.

I just think it's human nature to find someone losing composure, in any way, amusing. When someone's strutting along confidently and suddenly they're sprawled on the ground fumbling for their belongings; the contrast strikes us.
