  • Pretty much the only skilled rap musicians are either dead or have the musician title of "Eminem".

  • As someone who has tried to play the guitar, rock/metal. I can barely play slow jazz & country songs let alone the break neck pace, shredding shit like ACDC or Morbid Saint.

As for singing also rock/metal, especially metal. Classic metal like Manowar, Slayer, Iron Maiden, etc. is very similar to opera vocally in both pitch & range.

  • Technical skills definitely rock, rap also needs skill, just a different kind.

  • Some heavy metal is downright symphonic!

  • Rap requires greater emphasis on vocals while rock and metal require greater skill on the instruments.

  • As a metalhead I could probably say Rock and Metal needs to have more skill it has more components such as:

    - Riffs

    - Drums

    - Vocals ( for e.g. in Metal you need to learn how to scream )

    - Powerful lyrics ( but I'm sure it also applies to Rap as well )

  • Orchestras take the most. But I think rock takes more than rap because of the various instruments.

  • Rap and hip hop & rock and heavy metal music both need the same amount of skill, they're both equally very difficult.
