Which music-genre do you prefer? metal or rap?

I had this discussion with my classmate whether metal or rap was the more popular genre. So to see what people think, I started this poll and just to see if there is any difference between men and women i added genders to the poll.

    I'm a male, nearly 48 years old, who loves metal and classic/progressive rock. I've never liked rap and I've never understood its appeal.

    I really don't like rap at all especially nowadays I'm a kid and I don't get it, it all literally sounds like the same song to me and all their lyrics are extremely superficial, kid n play and will Smith are pretty good but what I REALLY like is classic rock, led zeppelin, Van Halen and Tom petty.... rock on!

    Rap is crap and does not evolve. Metal evolves and varies in sound.

    I'll say rap because there actually is some rap I like, although I don't like a lot of it

    I can't stand that screaming death shit though, whoever it is doing it. Makes my ears bleed.

    Honestly, I quite like both. For the past few months, I've been listening to more rap than metal. It's not that I think rap is better but, because it's just what I've been more interested to hear. I will say that a lot of modern domestic (US) rap, in the trap genre, is pure shit. Sometimes, I'll find one that I enjoy. Other times, I just won't. Lately, I've been more interested in doom metal.

    They both sound like horseshit and bullshit combined into one big noisy migraine headache.

    I like RocknRoll, classical, and the sound of a nice soft inflatable squeaking against my skin.

      These genres are usually associated with males. I.e. they are seen as being male dominated. They're not very many female MCs in rap or female musicians/all-female bands in metal. It's really silly when you think about it, but I'll assume this is what the OP was going by. (No offense to you, OP)
