I prefer tampons myself for cleanness, but I think you're gonna need to make a poll about this question if you want an accurate popularity gage. Although pads do appear to be the less popular choice out of like three people.
I have always been of the opinion that pads are far less clean to wear than tampons and certainly could be far more messy. Tampons keep everything within and not allowing for discharge to come in contact with the skin.
