Which is your favorite branch of military?

Thinking about joining one of them. Which one would you recommend to join first? I’d say maybe National Guard or coast Guard.

Marine Corps 3
Coast Guard 1
National Guard 0
Air Force 3
Army 4
Navy 7
Space Force 6

I used to want to join the Army when I was young. I'm relatively glad I didn't, because I'm not the biggest fan of authority figures in general. I'm probably the sort of person who would end up running lots of laps, and doing endless pushups.

I'm 50/50 on accepting authority. Got to compartimentilize that hatred. Salute the rank and not the person kind of thing.

None, being brainwashed doesn’t sound appealing to me.

None, I’m not one for murdering Middle Eastern children with drones

You'd rather do it face to face?

Seems better than killing them up close. You get to sit in a comfy chair all day and put their screams on mute.

It's also better to save human american lives. Better to blow up a 2 story building than to clear a stair way (theres no good way to clear a stair way)

Don’t get me wrong, it looks kinda fun. I just don’t agree with the idea of an organised military killing anyone that gets in their way.

I would say when it comes to bombing civilians its 10% our fault those times. The other 90% is because these terrorist jackoffs use human sheilds and launch mortars and missles from schools and hospitals.

At what point do you blame someone for shooting through a human shield to protect even more people? Bigger picture vs small lives here. It's a hard decision that I'm glad I dont have to make

I spent some time in service to my country and you just need to remember it's not all fun games and glory. You most likely will go to places and do jobs that you don't really want to. As far as a choice in the USA I would be careful about going space force, that was a split decision by the hated Trump admin. About 30 % wanted it 25% didn't 25% thought it should be an international thing under UN and 20% undecided or didn't care. If Trump doesn't win it may just go away or back under the airforce.

    You left out Stargate Command....

Or perhaps you don't believe in that possibility.

I served in the Navy 5 years. Each Branch has a different mission profile, although they overlap in certain areas. As such, I'm not sure there is a best or a favorite. It depends on what a person is interested in.

If you are thinking of joining; just be aware of one thing that I believe all branches of the US military agrees on.

The Pentagon has a department that searches the world for the most desolate places... When they find one - they build a base there (which branch (s) depend on what the Pentagon thinks its current needs are).

So, you are likely to end up at least visiting - if not stationed at - some very desolate places. I hope you like lizards or something like that. That's may be your nearest company for extended periods other than the base club.

Well I've served. And opinions are just that, opinions.

Dont think about branch stereotypes, it's like being on a sports team we all do war just a different brand of war. An inteligence member of the Navy does roughly the same job as an inteligence member of the Army. Going by job or rate is way better to surmise what kind of experience they have.

Unless you have a handful of people who have served that are online as well.

Well I have to give it to the Navy. Keeping trade open and free since ww2. Every superpower needs a great navy.

Also technically the Marines are attached to the Navy so we get them too.

None, I oppose all forms of organised violence.
Still, if I let be carried on atavistic feelings, I'd say the navy. Somehow I've been seeing something more dignified about it. Ever since I watched Russian movie 'Admiral'. And that's been the general perceptipon for centuries, also reflected in the uniforms. Also, lived all my life in a coastal city, I have a strong connection to the sea.

Dude, nobody deserves to be murdered more than drug runners who destabilize society, cause rampant poverty, and ruin lives. Get your ass on a coast guard cutter, become an expert marksman on a deck mounted .50 cal machine gun, and cut those bastards into hamburger. Blood in the water, dude. THATS Homeland Security.

As a Navy veteran that is NOT FUCKING TRUE. They have higher standards than the Navy. Why? Because they are protecting the homeland.

Plus they do more cool shit as of late since they do actual fighting right now vs us who just flip of china on our way through controlled waters.
