I'm not sure whether mine is still technically dyed or not. A few months ago I dyed it a black/dark blue colour. Now it's at a black/very dark brown colour, so I think most of the dye is out. So, at the moment, my hair looks black in most lighting, although it is actually dark brown. In sunlight, you can definitely tell that it is brown, although that doesn't happen much these days, because the sun is never out anymore. I'm not sure where it's gone!

My hair is naturally dark brown as well. I dye it black but it never stays. It turns red in the sun.
The sun lightens your hair, that is normal :)
