Which food group would you rather give up?

You have to be as strict as a vegan in avoiding the food group that you choose to give up.

Here are some lower key factors/cons of giving up the following:

Milk & Eggs - present in at least small amounts in most baked goods and sweets.

Fruits and Vegetables - This means all vegetation other than grain. You can only season food with salt- no spices at all.
No chocolate, or anything with ingredients extracted from plants, like alginic acid (thickener in pudding ect.)

This would likely be the most restrictive, and cause the most health problems.

Meat - gelatin (the stuff that makes jello, jello) is extracted from the boiled bones and skin of animals. It's in rice crispy treats as well. Animals fats are common in canned beans.

Grain - It's pretty easy to see all the restrictions here, also, they're used for thickening quite often.

I'm lactose intolerant so giving up milk would be ideal. Giving up eggs would take some getting used to since they're not dairy and I use them for almost everything I bake.

Give up grains... I hardly eat any bread as it is. Occasionally I eat pasta, but that's it. Thankfully it wasn't a "What alcoholic drink would you give up, except for tequila" Cause I drink everything else, except tequila. I hate it.

Not sure one could survive without the grains and fruits and vegetables. Why are eggs lumped with dairy and not meats?

    • They're an animal by-product, just like milk.

Yeah but eggs are literally animals, not byproducts, like dairy.

        • I see what you mean.

But vegetarians can still eat eggs, and saying unfertilized eggs are animals already is like saying a woman has an abortion every time one of her egg cells dies.

Fair point, I would still categorize eggs with meat protein before milk products, but maybe that's just me. Vegetarians are just confused vegan-curious and have such broad, ambiguous, and often static views so it's impossible to, "quote vegetarians."

            • As someone who is planning on going vegetarian, there's nothing really that broad or ambiguous about the vegetarian standpoint. Most of them just don't want to kill animals.

Meat is the flesh of animals. Flesh - the soft tissue of the body of a vertebrate: mainly muscle tissue and fat.

Eggs are pretty far from meat by definition.

So many vegans here. Why?? I mean like its one thing to try to expose a farm for making meat just like any other farm. But its another thing to complain that humans eat meat. Our ancestors did it, we evolved to eat it, its completely natural for humans to eat meat just like any other meat-eating creature.

    • I doubt there are actually a lot of vegans here.
