  • I'll explain where the term promised land came from.
The Isrealites dwelled in Egypt for 400 some years long before the British mandate. They originally went to Egypt to escape the 7 year famine. Joseph (one of Jacob's sons)brought Jacob (renamed Israel) and all his people to Egypt with the permission of the pharoah.
After that generation passed the new pharoah decided to enslave the Israelites since they were too numerous. But God delivered them from the bondage promising them a land of their own, the 'promised land'.
So this land was given to the descendants of Isaac (Israel's father) not Ishmael (Arabs). Ishmael and Hagar were thrown out of the community and did not share in the inheritance Isaac received from Abraham.
The feud goes back to the beginning but the promised land was given to Israel by God.
