Ian Curtis was from my neck of the woods and we feel his loss particularly here, even though it was a long time ago. Same for John Lennon, also roughly from my next of the woods (well, 35 miles away, anyway). My heart is saying Kurt Cobain, though.
If it's someone not on the list then Mozart, Chopin, the Gershwins, Janis Joplin, Nico, but probably Mozart.
