Which console-generation was better overall?

We argued in class whether generation 5 or generation 6 was the overall better console generation. What is your opinion?

Gen 5: PS1, N64, Saturn 6
Gen 6: PS2, GCN, Xbox 17
Can't choose, both are equally good 2

        I believe that Zelda Link to the Past is the greatest game of all time. They did so much with so little! Same for Super Mario World, Donkey Kong country - such tiny little memory cards, a handful of colours and sounds and they made those awesome games! They felt so full and rich. Great picture, great music, immersive gameplay. Never ceases to amaze me. I love modern games too but it seems less magical because they have so much to work with now

            Yeah! I didn't forget, there was just too many to mention. Super Metroid is great. Castlevania was excellent too. I was really bad at that game though. I remember having to get my big bro to do the bosses for me haha

    Gen 5 bud. All them beautiful wasted days playing tony hawk on the original playstation stoned smoking weed the entire time.... Ahh memories. Would not change it at all.. Those was some good times.

        Yes the ps2 was more powerful but for its time the ps1 was better, for me anyway.

          The PS2 was actually quite weak technologically compared to it's rivals, especially the Xbox, that console was a real powerhouse in it's day. It was also the first to feature a hard-drive and a truly great online experience.

    Gen 5, cause of "Bloody Roar 2, the new breed!" Spent hours on that game next to Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64.

    Saga Dreamcast had the best controller but the games were terrible besides that sonic game.

          You could argue that the Xbox was a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast. Also, the Duke controller is a bit similar to the Dreamcast controller, except it's more advanced, including 2 analog sticks instead of 1 and more buttons. For some reason, I absolutely loved the Duke controller.
